Alvarez vs. Fielding: Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez stops Rocky Fielding in third round

On the Saturday night’s much-anticipated match of Alvarez VS Fielding, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez was able to claim his WBA regular super middleweight title in New York after stopping Rocky fielding in the third round.

The Bronze Bomber came into the fight with a little extra weight to challenge Fielding. Fielding although confident could not hold up against his opponent as he was floored in every round before the fight was waved off. With this win, Alvarez has claimed his version of World title in the third division.

Fielding was having his first defense title fight for the belt he won back in July against Tyron Zeuge. However, against Alvarez, Liverpudlian was troubled from the start with his opponent’s body assault at the Madison Square Garden.

Fielding, in the opener, tried to take the center of the ring but came crashing down on his knees after taking a crushing shot to the ribs and even went on to receive some heavy punishment until the bell rang.

In the second round, Alvarez came in digging some more body shots; Fielding stood his ground but was sent back to the canvas with a punch under his elbows.

Fielding tried to answer back for his injuries in the third with his own flurry of combinations.

However, Alvarez, packed with too much power, dropped the Liverpudlian to the canvas for the third time with a right hook to his left side. Referee mercifully called off the match after Fielding hit the floor.

Alvarez talking about his fight said, “fortunately he came in the ring with the mind to attack and that was his error. I just did my thing in there. That was our plan in the gym. Our plan was to hit the body and then move up. This is the result of all that you saw here tonight. I felt good and I felt strong. I did not have to dehydrate myself to make the weight.”
