Anthoine Hubert, the Formula 2 driver killed in a crash incident at the Spa-Francorchamps held in Belgium

Anthoine Hubert, the driver of the Formula 2 has died at age 22 years old after due to the injuries he sustained during a crash at the Spa-Francorchamps held in Belgium earlier on Saturday.

The race had to be immediately canceled following a high-speed crash that occurred at Raidillion, which is the name of the steep right-handed turn where the collision took place. The crash includes not only Hubert but also two other drivers named Giuliano Alesi and Juan-Manuel Correa during the second lap of the race.

As soon as the crash occurred, the emergency crew responded to the site of the incident and started to treat the victims and then transported than at the medical center of the racetrack. As for Hubert, he could not live through his injuries and died at about 6:35 pm of local time.

According to FiA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) Correa is in stable condition and is under treatment at the CHU Liège hospital. As for Alesi, he was declared to be in stable condition at the medical center.

FiA leased a statement which states, “The FiA is providing their support to the event organizers as well as the relevant authorities and has also started our investigation for the incident.”

Hubert, who is a native of France was at the 8th rank in the standings of F2 which is the second-highest rank for rookies entering this race. He started racing at age of 12 years old and had previously won the F4 Championship during the first year on the pro circuit back in 2013. Earlier last year, he had won the GP3 Series Championship as well.
