Ashleigh Barty leads Australia to the Fed Cup final

For the first time since 1993, Ashleigh Barty has led the Team Australia to the finals of the Fed Cup after the 3-2 victory over the Belarusian team this Sunday.

Barty who had earlier won both of her singles matches in the semi-final tie; teamed up with the veteran player Samantha Stosur as they both defeated the duo of Aryna Sabalenka and Victoria Azarenka by 7-5, 3-6, and 6-2 in their Doubles match.

With this win, they have set themselves a Fed Cup final against either the French team or the Romanian team which will be played later this year in November.

Australia has not won the Fed Cup title since 1979 and they are now going to host the final of the Fed Cup against the winner for the 2nd semi-final which is currently tied at 1-1 in Rouen.

Stosur said, “It is super exciting to be in the final of the Fed Cup. We all work so hard all year round and we are a tight team. We are now going to give it our best shot in the finals in November.”
