ATP Finals; Alexander Zverev ends Roger Federer’s hopes of a 100th career title

On Saturday afternoon semi finals match of Federer vs. Zverev, Zverev came to the top by defeating Federer and thus ending his season along with his hopes of winning his 100th ATP title which would have been his 7th in London as well.

In this superb match of Master vs. Apprentice, it was the German player who came on the top as he won the match by 7-5, 7-6 to make it to the Sunday’s final. Zverev is now going to face Novak Djokovic or Kevin Anderson for the Final match of the ATP Finals in London.

Zverev is the first youngest player at age 21 to make it to the semi finals since 2009. He is also the first German player to have made it to the semi finals of the ATP Finals since 2003 when Rainer Schuttler made it to his mark.

Zverev stunned the 20 times Grand Slam Champion as he evenly traded groundstrokes with the Serb and break the love in the 12th game to win the opening set in 40 minutes.

Federer tried to break the second set with a 2-1 lead but Zverev responded well to his opponent’s attacks despite being booed by the O2 crowd. The match once again went into a tie-break and a missed routine volley from Federer allowed Zverev to won the match by two match points.
