ATPWTA Sydney International; Kyle Edmund, Simona Halep and Naomi Osaka will headline the event

The field of the ATP/WTA Sydney International tournament will be headlined by the British Kyle Edmund, world no. 1 Simona Halep and the US Open Champion Naomi Osaka in January of 2019.

For the January’s 6-12 tournament, British player Kyle Edmund is the top seed and he will use this tournament as a warm-up for the Australian Open which will start the following week.

Edmund; the world no. 14 will be lined alongside the champion Daniil Medvedev along with other players like Gilles Simon, Alex de Minaur, Lucas Pouille, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

De Minaur, who was last year’s runner-up for the tournament, says that he will be returning home for this tournament after 12 months as he contested in his maiden ATP Tour final.

De Minaur said, “I am looking forward to once again play in front of my home crowd”.

For the women tournament, 8 of the world Top 10 players have already signed up which includes favorite players like Simona Halep and Naomi Osaka.

Apart from them, other players in the women tournament will have players like defending champion and Wimbledon winner Angelique Kerber, Sloane Stephens, Petra Kvitova, Karolina Pliskova, Kiki Bertens, and Daria Kastakina.

The remaining two top 10 women players who are not taking part in this tournament are Caroline Wozniacki and Elina Svitolina.
