Australia heads for the semifinals of World Cup after beating Czech Republic by 82-70

In the Wednesday night game of basketball for the quarterfinals of the World Cup between Australia and Czech Republic, Patty Mills was leading the team with his 24 points as they defeated Czechs by 82-70.  

Chris Goulding added in his 14 points while Andrew Bougat added in his 10 points for team Australia as they now move to the semifinals of the World Cup which will be played on Friday.

As for the other seminal that will be played on Friday, it will be between Argentina and France. France was able to defeat the 2-time defending champion of the world Cup, US by 89-7909 in their quarterfinal clash on Wednesday night.

The first half of the game was a close one with the lead in hands of Australia by 33-30. However, in the 3rd quarter, the difference was 30-18 with Australia having the lead of 17 points in the 2nd half.

Czech Republic was being led by Patrik Auda who scored 21 points while Tomas Satoransky scored 13 points along with 13 assists and 9 rebounds. He was only one rebound short of making the first ever triple-double in the history of World Cup.

Australia earlier defeated US during teams’ exhibition match last month and has improved to the semifinal by 6-0.

Australia won the championships of the World Cup back in 1982 and 1994.

Up netx will be the semifinal clash between Australia and Spain in Beijing on Friday night while Czech Republic will face against Poland for their consolation playoff game in Shanghai.
