Benzema scores a hat trick for Madrid’s win over Athletic by 3-0

In the Spanish League match between Madrid and Athletic, Karim Benzema led Madrid with his hat trick of goals to win over the Athletic by 3-0 on Sunday. With these goals, Benzema has also extended his scoring run since being under the return of their coach Zinedine Zidane.

In the last 5 games, Benzema has struck 8 goals. For this disappointing season for the powerhouse team like Madrid, Benzema is the only player who is playing like a Real Madrid player.

They are already out of the Champions League and are currently trialing the leader of the Spanish League by 13 points at the 3rd place. Right now, they have nothing but pride that is making them play and of course a chance for a place on the team for next season.

Zidane has confirmed that the club is going to make some serious changes in their squad next summer. Benzema is definitely Zidane’s favorite player right now as they won together with the 3 Champions League titles before he stepped down last summer.

With these 3 goals, Benzema now has 30 in all the competitions for this season. He now has 21 goals in the Spanish league which is only 2nd to Lionel Messi who scored 33 goals.

In the second half of the game, Benzema flared up for the Madrid as he made two first goal of the night following crosses from Marco Asensio and Luka Modric in the 47th and 76th minute.

As for his third goal, it came in the 90th minute after the Athletic’s goalkeeper simply gave away the ball away to Gareth Bale who then laid the ball off for Benzema to strike it in the empty net.

Zidane said, “There is always going to debate and rumor but I think Benzema is an extraordinary player. There are only a few players like him who can link up their teammates as he does.”
