Beterbiev VS Gvozdyk; Artur Beterbiev gets stoppage win over Oleksandr Gvozdyk for their unification bout of world light-heavyweight division

In the unification fight of the world light-heavyweight division between Artur Beterbiev and Oleksandr Gvozdyk, it was Beterbiev with his explosive performance to gain the stoppage victory over his opponent despite trialing on the scorecards.

The Russian fighter floored Gvozdyk 3 times to force a finish which resulted in him adding the WBC title belt to his already held IBF title belt. Before winning the fight by stoppage, he was 87-84, 86-85 on 2 of the ringside judge’s scorecards whereas the 3rd ringside judge scored him 87-83.

Beterbiev was going for a knockdown in the 1st round but was denied of the opportunity when he was judged to have made a push in the instant replay and following that both fighters were able to then stand to trade out explosive punches with each other.

Still, it was the Ukrainian fighter who started having a loss of stamina as he took a knee during the 10th round and then Beterbiev took this chance to bludgeon him to canvas 2 more tie ms before the fight was called off.

As for the Callum Johnson of Britain, who has shared the ring with Beterbiev once back in 2018, the IBF champion dropped Johnson in the 2nd round to get his career’s 4th stoppage.

Callum said of Beterbiev to media that he should be considered s the no. 1 of the light-heavyweight division.

Johnson said, “The fight tonight is between the two of the best fighters of this division. I think we will find out who is the best out of the 2 tonight.”

As for Johnson himself, he is hoping to have a shot for the world title fight some time in 2020. As for the opponent of Johnson, it is still yet uncertain but there is a strong possibility that it could be again against Artur Beterbiev.
