Blake Bortles; Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback benched

Jacksonville Jaguars are making changes in their lineup of quarterback as they benched Blake Bortles. The head coach of the team, Doug Marrone announced that instead of Bortles, Cody Kessler will start as the quarterback for the team in the Sunday night game against Indianapolis Colts.

Marrone said to media, “I am only making this change to give our team a chance to win the game. We are not getting the performance and success that we have been hoping in a couple of last few games.”

Earlier on Sunday, Jaguars lost the game against Buffalo Bills which as their seventh consecutive defeat. Bortles in that game only threw for 127 yards with 1 TD and 2 interceptions.

This change up in the quarterback was announced only hours after the team fired their offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

This week had been busy for Jaguars as their running back Leonard Fournette had been handed down the punishment of one-game suspension without pay from NFL after he led a brawl during their defeat against Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Fournette and Bills defender Shaq Lawson, were both ejected during the third quarter of the game due to their brawl. As for Fournette, he has three days for making an appeal against the suspension.
