C.J. Fuller; former Clemson running back’s cause of death is related to a football injury

C.J. Fuller, the former running back for the Clementon University football team died due to pulmonary thromboembolism and deep vein thrombosis which is closely related to a football injury. The news was made public on Tuesday by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office.

22 years old Fuller died back on October 3rd, 2018.

Kelly told media that Fuller suffered a knee injury back on August 12th during a game at the JB Owens Sports Complex located in Easley. To repair that injured knee he underwent surgery on September 19th.

The coroner reported that his death is related to that very knee injury.

Fuller was undergoing physical therapy for that injury and he was experiencing chest pains moments before his death. This news was shared by Fuller’s aunt Zola Fuller Beeks which she told media right after Fuller’s death.

Fuller played from the year 2014 to 2017 with Clemson donning out their redshirt. During his three seasons there, he accumulated 599 rushing yards on his 147 carries along with five TDs. He also added 290 yards off his 17 career kickoff returns. His 20-yard kickoff return back in 20916’s national championship game jump-started Tiger’s game winning streak against Alabama.

Fuller before coming to Clemson University was the student at Easley High School. There he helped his school team to make it to the three playoffs berth for the first time in school’s history.
