Cleveland Cavaliers’ JR Smith faces criminal mischief charges for breaking a fan’s phone

JR Smith; the guard player for Cleveland Cavaliers is facing charges for breaking the phone of a fan who tied to take a video of him at a Manhattan Pizzeria in the middle of night.

32 years old Smith tuned himself to police on Friday last week. However he was released by police with only a court summon to appear in court facing the misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief.

When media asked for comment by NBA Champion’s lawyer; Alex Spiro; he responded that “this is nonsense and we do not respond to nonsense”.

The police told media that, “charges were pressed by a 20 years old youth from Pennsylvania. The youth said that he was on a busy block of Chelsea neighborhood in the middle of night at about 2:45 am on 29th July when he suddenly saw Smith Walking by. He tried to record Smith on his phone while suing Snapchat”.

The police further added, “according to youth, Smith came up to him snatched away his phone and threw it across the 10th avenue into a construction zone. This resulted in the phone’s screen being broken. The youth then flagged to the two patrolling officers nearby who looked for Smith but he was long gone by then”.

Smith played until 2015 for the New York Knicks team. After that he was traded to Cleveland Cavaliers. There he played with a team led by LeBron James that won the 2016’s NBA Championship.
