Colby Covington gains a dominant victory over Robbie Lawler at the UFC on ESPN 5

The former interim welterweight champion Colby Wellington was being cheered by sons of Donald Trump as the fighter delivered a shut-out performance to dominate his opponent Robbie Lawler with a unanimous points decision win. This win also landed Covington a call with the President of United States himself.

Covington, whose career record is 15-1 MMA and 10-1 UFC, was able to keep Lawler, whose career record is 28-14 MMA and 13-8 UFC, off guard fro the 5 rounds. He instead brought his punches and takedowns into the mix that were barely doing any harm to Covington.

This welterweight bout was the highlight of the Saturday night UFC on ESPN 5 held at Prudential Center located in Newark, New Jersey.

The final scores from judges were 50-44 and 50-45 in favor of Covington who after having his 7th UFC win in a row called out for a fight with Kamaru Usman.

When the camera was cut to Usman who was also at the Prudential Center and was there as a UFC analyst, Covington screamed the words, “Marty Fakenewsman? We do not need to wait until the Madison Square garden. We can do it here tonight right now”.

As for Covington, he was called out of his post-fight interview s a call was waiting for him from the President. He also said that Trump asked him to come to hang out with him at the Oval Office.

Covington said of his talk with the president, “He just appreciates as how much I do and the hard-working American I am. I have not been given anything in my life. I had to work hard and earned everything I have today. This fight was a landslide just like the fight it is going to be in 2020.”

Lawler was struck 600 times by Covington in the course of 25 minutes. He came to the fight with much energy but as the 4th and 5th round approached he was less and less able to keep up with the pressure of Covington and despite landing some decent punches in the 3rd and 4th he was not able to shrug off his dominant opponent.
