CONCACAF Gold Cup; Newcomer of the US team Boyd scores 2 goals in team’s 4-0 victory over Guyana

The newcomer of the US team scored 2 goals early in the 2nd half of their game against Guyana to have an early lead. With Boyd scoring two goals, there was a clear sign of satisfaction on the face of Gyasi Zardes that this was going to be one great night for Americans.

A shot kicked by Paul Arriola from outside of the box was headed straight towards the defender of Guyana Terence Vancooten who deflected it straight to the face of Zardes and struck him in the left eye. But the amazing thing happened next as the ball ricocheted and went into the net as his team started celebrating while Zardes stood there dazed and grimacing in pain.

Still, Americans had more fun on the field on Tuesday night.

With Boyd scoring 2 goals and the US team scoring two more goals to win over Guyana by 4-0 to have a positive start of their CONCACAF Gold Cup in a match held on Tuesday. With this win, the team is on the track for their first competitive tournament in the last 20 months.

Gregg Berhalter, the coach of US team said, “The first game of the tournament always gets a little bit nervous thing. We told our players to enjoy the experience as it is competition time now.”

The 24 years old Boyd was laying for his 2nd game with team US after FIFA approved of his switching from Switzerland to the US. His parents came to see the game of their son from their native country after taking a long flight.

Boyd said, “It was just a dream come true. For me, this has been years and years of work to just make it to this moment.”

Next, US will be in Group D and will play against Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday in Cleveland.
