Cori Gauff’s Wimbledon run comes to 4th round end by Simona Halep while Ashleigh Barty also knocked out

Cori Gauff, the youngest ever qualifier of the Wimbledon in the history, her Wimbledon run came to an end with 4th round defeat against the former world rank no. 1 Simona Halep.

The debutant introduced tot eh world her talent in the first round with a shocking win over Venus Williams but could not hold the same performance against Simona Halep as she fell to a 6-3 and 6-3 defeat. The match was held for a time of 74 minutes at Court One.

While Gauff bowed out of the Wimbledon, Halep moves into the quarterfinals of the Women’s singles where she will now face China’s Zhang Shuai.

Shuai was able to present her best performance of the Grand Slam to win over the Dayana Yastremska by 6-4, 1-6, and 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 5 years.

Things were bleak for the 3 seeded Karolina Pliskova as well as she got defeated in a thrilling match by 4-6, 7-5, and 13-11 against Karolina Muchova.

The biggest shock of this year’s Wimbledon was the defeat of the world rank no. 1 Ashleigh Barty who got defeated by American player Alison Riske. Riske defeated Barty by 3-6, 6-2, and 6-3 to move into the first quarterfinals of her Wimbledon career.
