Crolla VS Lomachenko; Anthony Crolla to fight Vasyl Lomachenko for WBA and WBO lightweight titles

Anthony Crolla is due for a boxing match for the lightweight titles of WBO and WBA against Vasyl Lomachenko on April 12th.

Lomachenko was earlier due for a unification fight against Richard Commey which was halted after the Ghanaian suffered from a hand injury. This sudden withdrawal from Commey led for a door to be opened for Crolla.

Eddie Hearn, the Matchroom boxing owner, also announced that both teams have been agreed for a fight that will take place at the Staples Center.

Crolla has been previously the WBA champion from years in between 2015 to 2016 before he suffered back to back defeats against Jorge Linares. Crolla said to media in the interview, “I believe that I can win a world title again. These are the type of fight I am in for. This is the biggest fight that can be made out for me here. I have earned it. It is not live I have simply been given this shot. After my defeat to Linares, I have won three matches which were solid wins.”

He further said, “I have not won a lottery or a raffle to fight against Vasyl Lomachenko. This is why I am looking forward to it and I love to train as I get older. No man is unbeatable. It has already been proven for Lomachenko. He also lost early in his career.”

Lomachenko, who is the two-time Olympic Gold medalist, is renowned for being one of the best pounds-for-pound boxers in the world.

31 years Lomachenko in his fight against Linares last May managed to win the WBA lightweight title from him. This in addition to his already held WBA Featherweight belt, he also won his WBO title last December after his fight against Jose Pedraza.
