Despite rain Pliskova beats Martic on way to win the Zhengzhou Open

Karolina Pliskova, the top seed at the Zhengzhou Open was able to overcome the delays from rain and also the early deficit from her opponent of the final Petra Martic on her way to win the Zhengzhou Open title3 by 6-3 and 6-2.

The match was first halted in the first radium due to rain when Martic had a 2-0 lead.

After that play was resumed, Pliskova went on to gain the win for next 3 matches of the first set and then broke the lead by 5-3 before winning the first set.

Pliskova was then again able to break Martic for a lead of 2-0 in the second set and then before she held the serve. The game was once again halted due to rain.

Once more after the rain delay, Pliskova came out strong and bloke her opponent to win the final after 96 minutes.

Pliskova and Martic have faced each other 5 times in the past and out of those 5 times, Pliskova lost 4 times which also includes her loss of this year’s French Open’s third-round match by 6-3 and 6-3.

The final was delayed for nearly 6 hours in total due to the heavy rain.

Martic has won her first title of the year in Istanbul before she went to be in the quarterfinal of the Roland Garros this year and made it to the top 20 of the world rankings.

As for Pliskova, this is her 4th title win this year, adding to the title wins in Rome, Brisbane, and Eastbourne.
