Diego Maradona reflects on his struggles over drug addiction and alcoholism after joining Dorados

Diego Maradona who has become the new manager of Mexican club Dorados told media that he insistent on settling down after having past struggles with drug addiction and alcoholism.

57 years old Maradona was publicly having struggle with his drug addiction and alcoholism. He was asked to reassure the fans about his recovering health because of the recent event at World Cup in Russia where he was suddenly transported for hospitalization.

Maradona called his long addition to drugs as a “Sickness” for which he has suffered long. However he said to media and fans that he is all set for leading a  healthy new life and he is beginning it by being the second division side Mexican club; Dorados.

Maradona who led the Argentina in World Cup of 1986, told media that, I am going to give Dorados a chance of what I lost when I was sick. I had been sick for past 14 years. I now only want to see the sun. I want o got bed at night because I have never gotten used to going to bed. I do not even know what a pillow feels like. This is my main reason for accepting offer from Dorados.”

Maradona had been previously employed by Argentinean National team as well as Emirati Club Al Wasl and Fujairah. During these coaching teams, he still suffered from many addiction spells.

Maradona has also been appointed to be the Chairman for the Belarusian side Dinamo Brest. However following his move to Dorados this position might now be in doubt.

Maradona said to reporter, “I am here to spend long time with Dorados. People can say many things. But I was clearly going downhill. I was eating myself from inside out which was a step backwards. Football now is a step forward. All of this change is all thanks to my daughters”.
