Djokovic wins his 5th Paris Masters & the 77th career singles title

The finals of the Pairs Masters between Novak Djokovic and Denis Shapovalov ended with a 6-3 and 6-4 win for Djokovic. With this win, Djokovic has claimed his career’s 5th Paris Masters title in his long 77 career singles title which also includes 34 Masters Titles.

He is now only 1 title behind the record holder of the Masters’ titles; Rafael Nadal who had to withdraw from final due to his stomach injury.

In his career, the 34 years old Serbian has won 77 singles title and he plans to add more soon.

Djokovic said in his on-court interview, “I do not take these titles for granted as they are something usual or common. I feel really blessed to have been able to win so many big titles. This is one of the main reasons that I am still playing professional tennis. I am playing to fight for these big trophies as I am still able to play at the highest level of tennis.”

For Shapovalov, this match was a disappointing loss because he was particularly fresh as he had avoided the semifinals clash with the year-end no. 1 Rafael Nadal, who retired before their match.

Still, the match against someone like Djokovic was filled with many odds as he was making his first veer career;’ Masters’ final appearance.

Djokovic said of Shapovalov, “I put him under the pressure during the 2nd serve and for the backcourt I was playing solid and no age him many opportunities. I feel that the second part of my week at Paris Masters was great. My performance was improving day by day.”

So far in his 5 final’s appearances at Paris Masters held at the Bercy Arena, Djokovic never dropped a single set expect last year against Karen Khachanov. The reason for this too was that the final of Paris Masters last year came after a 3 –hour long semifinals’ match against Roger Federer.
