Dmitry Bivol wins by unanimous decision against Lenin Castillo for the WBA light-heavyweight title defence

Dmitriy Bivol had a title defense fight with Lenin Castillo for the WBA light-heavyweight title and was able to retain his title easily.

The fight went all the way for 12 rounds in which Dmitry Bivol came out victorious by the unanimous decision. He controlled the entire fight and even knocked down Castillo during the 6th round.

Russian champion made use of his jab and fast speed to make sure that his 6th title defense fight was also the one-sided one.

Dmitry Bivol won by getting the scores from 3 ringside judges; 120-107, 120-107, 119-108.

This win also extends Bivol’s professional record to 17 wins and he is right on course for the big fights against other champs of the division.

There is going to be the WBC and IBF title unification fight between Artur Beterbiev and Oleksandr Gvozdyk and following that will be the WBO Gold defense fight between Sergey Kovalev and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez on 2nd November 2019.

When Dmitry Bivol was asked if he would fight the inner of either of these fights, he said, “Why Not? We are all from the very same division. Of course. Maybe, some might say that I am a boring fighter, but I challenge them to beat me.”

In another title defense fight for the IBF Featherweight title between the champ Josh Warrington and Sofiane Takoucht, Warrington knocked out his opponent in 2nd round.

Warrington, in the fight held at his home city of Leeds, knocked out Sofiane Takoucht and then unleashed a barrage of punches that stumbled him and causing the referee to intervene.

With this win, the career record for the defending champion is now 30-0 with him defending his title for the 3 times in a row.

Since last year, when Warrington got the IBF belt from the previous holder Lee Selby, he had been in a form of his life as he defeated Kid Galahad and Carl Frampton since then.
