Edwards vs. Moreno: Charlie Edwards wins over Angle Moreno by unanimous points decision to retain WBC flyweight crown

Charlie Edwards on Saturday night boxing fight held at Copper Box Arena against Angel Moreno for the WBC Flyweight title defence fight ended with a spectacular performance. He dominated his opponent to win by unanimous points decision.

The fight was so spectacular that Edwards managed to win every round against his Spanish opponent as he retained his 112lbs belt in what was his first title defence fight since winning it by beating Cristofer Rosales back in December.

Edwards made a fiery start as he pumped out jabs responding to Moreno’s steady march forward with hooks. Unfortunately for Moreno, h was caught by some clever counters of Edwards.




Moreno showed his disregard for the defence as he came hurling out in the 2nd round but Edwards accurate punches did some considerable damage. More bad news for Moreno came after he received an uppercut in his attempt to do a reckless attack.

The 3rd round again started with pounding by Edwards as his succession of right hand punches gained cheers from the crowd while the Spanish fighter could only take on the hits.

Edwards, in the 4th quarter started showboating as he goaded in his former sparring partner by dropping his own guard. For his he received some serious ticking off from his trainer Grant Smith when he returned in his corner.

In the 5th round, Edwards meant business as he used his footwork to be in control of fight and also keep Moreno in check.

Moreno got a chance in the 6th round as he delivered a nice uppercut but Edwards soon dominated his authority once more with even more amazing uppercut.

Edwards controlled the 7th round with some punches thrown from every corner and angle using his fast movements. He finished the 8th round with a flash knockdown.

A serious uppercut from Edwards in the night saw the crowd standing up from their seats while Moreno being back up on the ropes.
