Edwards VS Rosales: Charlie Edwards wins the WBC flyweight world title from Cristofer Rosales in London

The Saturday night boxing fight of Edwards VS Rosales for the WBC Flyweight world title ended with the challenger Charlie Edwards winning at the O2 arena.

The Croydon man, who two years ago lost his first fight for World honors at this very same arena, came through the thrilling battle at the second time of asking. He put on an impressive display of his moves to win the fight by 118-110, 117-111 and 116-112 unanimous decision.

Edwards whose career is now at 14-1 was filled with emotions as he talked to the media, “that’s for you Mum, when she was ill, she told me never to give up on my dreams. I never stopped believing. I now want to unify the division next ad I ready for any and everyone.”

Both flyweight fighters came out light on their feet as the bounced around in the ring while gauging distance. In the opener, Rosales targeted the body of Edwards as he landed in some better combinations.

Rosales kept on pressing his pressure as he swung in a wide left before finding a pair of one-twos. However, Edwards came on strong toward the end of the second round as he landed a hard body shot followed with an upstairs flush.

This spectacular match continued into the third round as Londoner started to work smartly inside as he popped in a shot in and out.

Edwards in the fourth round landed a crunching left hook before closing in, to land a thudding uppercut to snap the Central American’s head back.

Rosales tried to produce more heavy shots in the sixth but a clubbing left still landed on upstairs did a massive damage.

The fight went into heated sate when the Londoner forehead suddenly was cut and bed heavily. The champion then continued his pressure forward with the artillery of heavy punches but Edwards replied with his own set of skillful combinations, which also included a left hook to keep Rosales at bay.

Edward and Rosales maintained the rhythm until the eleventh round while they traded out equal shots and defense against each other.

By the last round, Edwards rallied as both fighters engaged in a firefight to end this thrilling fight.
