Emmitt Thomas; defensive backs coach of the Kansas City Chiefs retires from role after 51-year NFL career

Emmitt Thomas, the defensive backs coach for the NFL team Kansas City Chiefs and also the Hall of Fame player announced his retirement after an NFL career that spans for more than five decades.

Thomas played 13 seasons with Kansas City Chiefs and helped them reach two Super Bowl and win their only Super Bowl championship back in 1970.

The two-time Al-Pro retired from playing back in 1978 and started his coaching career at the Central Missouri State before moving to pros as he coached the St. Louis Cardinals.

The 75 years old veteran of the sport helped the Redskins win their two Super Bowl championships and has also worked with teams like Eagles, Packers, Vikings and Falcons before working with Chiefs in 2010.

Since then he had been the defensive backs coach.
