European Open; Top seeded Dominic Thiem defeated by Rublev to reach the semis

In the quarterfinals match of the European Open in Hamburg between the top-seeded player Dominic Thiem and the Russian player Andrey Rublev turned out to be a shocker as Thiem suffered a 7-6, 7-6 loss to the Russian opponent.

Rublev, who has earlier only defeated a top-10 ranking player in his career, was able to recover from 2 set tiebreak to win over the 2-time finalist of the French Open.

The world rank no. 78 Rublev will next play against Spain’s Carreno Busta who also won over the 3rd seeded Italian player Fabio Fognini by 3-6, 6-02 and 7-6.

As for Zverev, he was able to overcome a scare in his match against Filip Krajinovic to win over him by 2-6, 7-5 and 6-2.

Zverev is playing at the ATP 500 event which sin held in his home town for the first time since the played back in 2016 which he had to leave in the 1st round.
