French Open 2019: Nadal and Federer both move into the third round

The defending champion of the French Open Rafael Nadal as well as the former winner of the event Roger Federer both managed to easily move into the third round of the tournament with straight sets wins on Wednesday.

Nadal, who is targeting his record 12th win of the French Open, defeated world rank no. 114 Yannick Maden by 6-2, 6-1 and 6-4 on the Suzanne Lenglen court.

This was his second win over a German qualifier at the French Open.

As for the former 2009 champion of French Open, Roger Federer, he made a comeback at the Oland Garros as he defeated the Lucky loser of the event Oscar Otte by 6-4, 6-3 and 6-4.

Currently, Nadal and Federer are the favorites at the second biggest Grand Slam event of the season. Nadal will next face the 27th seeded David Goffin.

In other high profile matches of the event, the Greek sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas was able to move into the third round for the first time after beating his Bolivian opponent, Hugo Dellien by 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 and 7-5.

20 years old start the season with his amazing run into the semi-finals of the Australian Open back in January.

As for the 7th seeded Kei Nishikori, he made a comeback from being a set down to win over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to make it to the third round.

Nishikori will now face the 31st seeded player Laslo Djere who earlier defeated the Australian Wildcard named Alexei Popyrin by 6-4, 7-6 and 6-4.

As for Corentin Moutet, the French wildcard he had the biggest win of his career as he defeated the 19th seeded Guido Pella by 6-3, 6-1 and 7-5 to reach the third round of the Grand Slam.

20 years old Moutet will now play against the world rank no. 78 Juan Ignacio Londero who defeated Richard Gasquet by 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, and 6-4.
