French Open; Heather Watson and Katie Swan both progress to second round of the qualifiers

On Wednesday, Katie Swan and Heather Watson both were able to move into the second round of the French Open qualifiers after their victories on Roland Garros court.

Watson has suffered a not so good start of her 2019 season but she has come to Paris in high aspirations after she claimed her second-tier title back in Japan earlier in May.

The 27 years old Watson is bidding to make it to the main draw of the French Open for the 8th time in her career. She has also managed to reach the 2nd round of the 6 of those 8 times.

In other matches of the day, her fellow countrywoman Katie Swan also displayed an impressive game as she defeated the 2nd seeded Jil Teichmann by 6-4 and 6-2 in 69 minutes.

20 years old Swan who is currently ranked 208th was able to defeat the world rank 87 Teichmann for her second career win over a Top 100 player.

After James Ward and Jay Clarke both suffered defeats on Monday, Watson and Sawn are the only players from Britain’s side to be in the qualifiers.
