Italy wins over China by 2-0 to make it to their first quarterfinal since 1991

Italy’s women’s soccer team made it clear that it might be a contender for the world cup after they got a win over China by 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Milena Bertolini, the coach of Italian team believes that their team is all set to play in the first quarterfinal of the world cup since 1991 as her players are trying to reach a goal which is far more ahead than the final result.

She said, “They have a mission and their mission is to try and have the Italian public to discover as well appreciate about the women’s soccer. These goals help you as it allows you to find for yourself extra energy and motivation. I really believe that this team has allowed a new path for the women’s sport back home.”

Now the Italian audience has a new team to view and root for after the men’s soccer team failed to qualify in the World Cup last summer held in Russia.

Chinese team had been holding a tough defense in the last three group stage matches as they gave away only one goal but Italy seemed to have broken through their impregnable defenses.

The first goal of Italy was scored by Valentina Giacinti in the 15th minute of the game while the second goal was scored four miniatures after the second half started at the Stade de la Mosson.

Up next Italy will be playing against Netherlands on Saturday in a  match that will be held in Valenciennes after the Dutch team won over Japan by 2-1 on Tuesday night. In other matches of the same bracket, Germany and Sweden will play against each other for their quarterfinals match.

Jia Xiuquan, the coach of Chinese team seemed to have her future with team in doubts after his team had to exit the world cup with one goal as she said that this might be time to take a break.
