JD NXTGEN: Conor Benn wins over Jussi Koivula in a one sided fight at York Hall

In the JD NXTGEN fight between Conor Benn and Jussi Koivula held on Friday night at York Hall, Benn defeated Koivula in the 2nd round.

The opening round saw the 22 years Benn having his legs buckled but came through in the 2nd round with his hard-hitting punches as he delivered crashing hooks to his opponent as he floored the Finnish opponent two times before finishing him for good. The fight was mercifully called out by the referee.

With this win, Benn improves his career record to 15-0 and has also secured the first title defense fight for his WBA Continental Welterweight belt.

After coming through an explosive win against Cedrick Peynaud at the start of the year, Benn was up for another tough night against the fired-up Koivula who jumped into the ring early one with his hands let go.

He made the first damage to Benn with two punches as he made him stumble back but Benn aka The Destroyer also responded with his crunching body blow which was followed by a right punch.

Benn was wobbled in the first round but was saved by the bell. After some regrouping at their corners, Benn came out while gritting on his guard hard as he delivered a series of destructive blows followed by a left counter to send Koivula aka the Ice Man to the floor once more.

Koivula made it back to his feet but it was a short-lived one as he was pummeled with a series of left heavy hand punches to send him tumbling back to the floor once more. Benn, with a taste of blood in his mouth, continued his onslaught before referee came in to wave off the fight in his favor.

Benn in his post-fight interview said, “He was thinking that he can bully me around but he was doing nothing of the sorts. It did not even wake me up much less do any harm. I threw punches when he threw some and caught him with some great shots.”
