Joe Cordina beats Enrico Tinoco on points to win the WBA Continental belt in Monaco

The fight for the vacant WBA Continental Super Featherweight belt between Joe Cordina and Enrico Tinoco was held in Monaco. The fight ended with Joe Cordina winning over his opponent on points.

Two of the ringside judges scored Joe Cordina in Monaco with 98-92 while the third judge also scored in Welsh fighter’s favor by with points of 96-94.




The Commonwealth and British lightweight champ Joe Cordina dropped down a division to take part in the battle for the Super Featherweight division against Mexican veteran Tinoco. Earlier in the yr, Tinoco won over the British boxer named Jordan Gill during about held in Nottingham.

From the start of the fight, Joe Cordina appeared to be the most comfortable fighters out of the two as he used the speed of superior hand for dominating his opponent with a jab during early rounds.

Tinoco suffered the brutal punishment for the first few rounds but then responded with vigor in the middle rounds.  He saw the success during middle rounds with his few decent shots. However, the hits from the Mexican veteran were still unable to faze Joe Cordina.

From thereon, Joe Cordina took the lead of the fight as he passed Tinoco through the brutal punishment with him landing a few shots of his won.  It was during the 10th round that Tinoco made short burst with some splendid work to the inside of Cordina’s body. Still, this effort of Tinoco was not enough to move the judges from their previous rulings as they awarded the fight to Cordina with unanimous points decision.

With this, Cordina who was on a hot streak of wins now extends his career record to be 11 wins from 11 fights. He won 7 of those 11 career fights by knockout.
