Katie Swan loses her final round for the French Open qualifiers

Katie Swan was not able to capitalize a win during her third round match of the French Open qualifiers held at Roland Garros. She was bidding to make it to the French Open’s main draw for the first time in her career but was devoid of the chance by her Slovakian opponent Kristina Kucova on Friday.

Earlier, 20 years old presented one of her career’ best performances to win over the second seed of the qualifiers Jil Teichmann with straight set victory followed by her win over the Chinese player Wang Xiyu for making it to the final round of the qualification round.

Unfortunately, Swan was hindered by her thigh injury during the match with Kucova which led to her having a long medical time out in the first set.

After making a return in the 2nd set, Swan presented an amazing performance to have a 3-0 lead but was later hampered in her match to not make it to a decider. She ultimately lost the match by 6-4 and 7-5.

Katie Boulter was also present at the court to show her support to her fellow player from the Fed Cup. Boulter herself withdrawn from the French Open on Friday afternoon due to an aggravating back injury.

With Heather Watson also out, Swan also being defeated and Boulter taking a withdrawal from her French open, Johanna Konta will be the only female to represent Britain in the tournament.

As for men’s singles main draw, Kyle Edmund, Dan Evans, and Cameron Norrie will be taking the lead for Britain.
