Kuldeep Yadav’s hat-trick and century from Rohit Sharma leads India’s win over West Indies

Kuldeep Yadav was able to score his 2nd hat trick of the ODI match while Rohit Sharma was able to score his 7th century of ODI in the 2nd ODI match between India and West Indies as India won the match by 107 runs to take this 3-math series to a final one.

Kuldeep was able to follow up on his previous hat trick he had in 2017 against Australia with another one he achieved in Visakhapatnam as he took wickets of Shai Hope, Jason Holder, and Alzarri Joseph respectively on consecutive balls. The West Indies team was all bowled out on 280 runs as they tried to chase the massive chase target of 387-5 set by India earlier.

Rohit, who had scored 159 runs off of 138 balls, scored his career’s 28th ODI century while KL Rahul scored 102 runs off 104 deliveries, shared the 1st wicket partnership to put India at the mark of 227 runs for 37 overs. After them came Shreyas Iyer, who scored 53 runs off of 32 balls and Rishabh Pant, who scored 39 runs off of 16 balls, to take the team India to a mark of little under 400 runs.

Following a lucky delivery from Kieron Pollard, Virat Kohli was dismissed at 0 runs but the captain of Windies suffered the same fate upon delivery as the hope for West Indies to win the game crumbled.

Tourists won the series-opening match toss on Sunday in Chennai and won that match by 8 wickets. They were still in this game when the score was 192-3 at the 30th over as Nicholas Pooran and Hope shared the partnership for 106 runs. But then Mohammed Shami came to the pitch as he took the wickets for both Pooran and Pollard.

Both these teams will now play the winner takes all 3rd ODI match of the series on coming Sunday in Cuttack.
