Lakers eliminated from playoffs after 111-106 loss against the Nets

D‘Angelo Russell did not take pleasure in being the guy who took the Lakers off of playoff contention for another season on Friday night. Russell is only pleased about the fact that he is going to be able to make the postseason debut in the playoff for the Brooklyn Nets.

Joe Harris made 3-pointers to score 26 points while Russell added in his 21 points to help the Nets win over the LA Lakers by 111-106 on Friday night.

Russell scored 7 of his 21 points along with 3 assists in the fourth quarter as Brooklyn held on to defeat the Lakers. Russell who was drafted in 2015 and was traded to Nets in 2017, scored 2 huge 3-pointers as he raised his finger to lips to shush his former crowd at the Staples Center.

As for Russell, he does not think much about putting the last nail in the elimination of Lakers from the playoff.  He said, “Sounds really good on paper but in the end, we are not playing against them. We are not competing against the Lakers to be the seeded team. A win is good enough for us.”

Los Angeles Lakers who are 31-41 on the regular season will once again miss their shot at the playoffs which is the record 6th time in a row for the Lakers even with LeBron James on their side. LeBron James fell a little short of making his career 81st triple-double with his 25 points along with 14 assists as well as 9 rebounds.

James said it was a tough season for all of us. It was not what we signed up for. Throughout the year things happen like injuries and suspensions. You don’t even try to wrap your head around something like this.”

Up next, Nets will play against the Trail Blazers while Lakers will host a game against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.
