Madrid beats Osasuna by 4-1 to remain ahead of Barcelona in Spanish league

The match of Spanish league held between Osasuna and Real Madrid ended with 4-1 victory for Madrid and with this they remain ahead of Barcelona in the league’s rankings.

Barcelona also won their Spanish League match against Real Betis by 3-2 to maintain their 3-points back position against their rival after 23 rounds.

Although Osasuna was able to take the goal lead early in the game, Francisco “Isco” Alarcón and Sergio Ramos from Madrid’s side scored goals respectively with only 5 minutes apart late in the 1st half. Their goals were the ones that allowed Real Madrid to gain momentum and led the team to an easy victory after their disappointing home game loss against Real Sociedad last Thursday in Copa del Rey. With that defeat of del Rey, Madrid’s winning streak of 21 games across all competitions came to an end.

The other 2 goals of Real Madrid were scored in the 2nd half by team’s substitute players Lucas Vázquez and Luka Jovic respectively. Before their defeat against Real Sociedad, Madrid had won 8 games in a row.

Casemiro, the midfielder for Madrid said, “We were coming off of the difficult elimination in Copa del Rey and mentally speaking, this was a difficult match for us. We still showed that we are the title contender and these 3 points are really important for us.”

Madrid has not lost a single game of Spanish League since they started playing at Mallorca back in October.

The scoreboard for Osasuna was opened on a diving header shot from Unai García during the 14th minute of the game but then Isco mad a volley in the 33rd minute to equalize the score and then Ramos scored his go-ahead goal on a header shot during the 38th minute. Vázquez scored the 3rd goal for Madrid dring Vázquez and the final goal by Jovic came during the stoppage time.
