Miami Open; Kyle Edmund makes a winning start at the tournament

Kyle Edmund, the British no., 1 player has managed to make a winning start at Miami open tournament after defeating Ilya Ivashka in their second-round match. He made it into the third round of the tournament for the very first time in his career.




Edmund received a bye to the second round of the Miami Open managed to move past his Belarusian opponent Ivashka for a win by 6-3, and 6-2 in mere 71 minutes in a match that was played at the Hard Rock Stadium complex’s Court One.

Edmund earlier failed 5 times to make it into the last 32 of the Mimi Open at the Masters 1000 event. However, he changed this bad luck sorta concept by a spectacular performance against his world rank no. 110 opponent Ivashka under the Sunny skies of California.

As for his next, match, he will be facing the 24 years old player Milos Raonic. Earlier Milos Raonic also got a bye to the third round of the tournament after his German opponent Max Marterer retired before the match due to an injury.

As for World no. 1 Novak Djokovic, he made it through his match against Australian player Bernard Tomic easily with a victory by 7-6 and 6-2 in little over an hour. He now advances to the third round of the tournament which he has already won 6 times in the past.

The tournament saw real high profile names of the sport taking an early exit like the Indian Wells champion Dominic Thiem who got defeated by Hubert Hurkacz by 6-4 and 6-4.

On his way out, Thiem was also joined by Kei Nishikori of Japan who lost to Dusan Lajovic by 2-6, 6-2 and 6-3. He will now face Nick Kyrigios who defeated Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik by 7-5 and 6-3.
