Michael Hunter beats Fabio Maldonado within two rounds and calls out Anthony Joshua next

Michael Hunter after defeating Fabio Maldonado on the early hours of Sunday morning in mere two rounds has now his eyes set on the heavyweight division as he calls out Anthony Joshua.

During the fight for the WBA international title, Hunter was able to dish out his opponent a devastating loss as he retained his WBA title in his career’s first stoppage victory. The fight was held at the MGM National Harbor located in Maryland.

The American fighter who was also on the short list to Anthony Joshua’s fight before Andy Ruiz Jr. was finalized for the bout to be held on June 1st, called out tot eh three-title champion after he secured himself a 4th knockout victory.

Hunter said, “Mandatory, I am taking any chance that I can get. I am here to stay. Anthony Joshua, he is the cash cow now and you know what I mean. It is a fight to make as we are both with DANZ and Matchroom. Dillian Whyte, we want Dillian Whyte in mandatory.”




Hunter’s only career defeat was during his 18th career fight against Oleksandr Uysk for the cruiserweight title back in 2017. In his fight against Maldonado, he was able to find a crack in his opponent’s tight guard.

The second round saw Hunter delivering a heavy uppercut before he sent the Brazilian fighter crashing down on canvas with his continuous hooks.

As for the WBC International title fight between Filip Hrgovic and Gregory Corbin, Hrgovic was able to defeat his opponent and retain the belt as well.

The Croatian defending champion was able to retain the victory in the first round as he sent his opponent to the floor in the first round with a clubbing right hook.

Despite Corbin beating the count, he was unsteady on his feet prompting the referee to wave off the fight.
