Miranda Elish, the pitcher of Texas sent to hospital after a ball throw hits her face during Texas VS Alabama game

Miranda Elish, the softball pitcher of Texas was sent to a hospital on Friday night after she was hit by a ball throw in a freak accident. The incident happened during the NCAA Division I Super Regional game held between Texas and Alabama.

In the second inning of the game which was being held at Tuscaloosa, Elissa Brown of Alabama bunted in front of the plate while Texas’ catcher Mary Iakopo threw the ball towards the 2nd base to give her a force out.

Unfortunately, Elish was in the way of the ball throw and it hit her square in the face. She collapsed right then and there and stayed down for quite a while on the ground until her teammates gathered to check on her. As a precautionary measure, she was taken to the emergency room.

During the 3rd inning of the game, Texas made a tweet that Elish was doing just fine at the hospital.

Below is the moment when the ball hit Elkoish in the face in a freak accident.

Mike White, the coach of Texas said after the game, “Everything currently seems to be OK. While she is hurting a little bit, she is good high spirits.”

Later in the third inning, Iakopo struck a 3-run homer to give Alabama a 4-0 lead.

White said, “Elish has been our workhorse all year and we have been here all because of Elish. Nothing better than to see Mary do that.”

Ultimately Texas won by 7-5 to avoid the elimination and also to force a decider game 3 for the Super Regional series.
