Monte-Carlo Masters; Cameron Norrie wins over Adrian Mannarino

Cameron Norrie, the British no. 2 managed to win over Adrian Mannarino in straight sets during their first round match at the Monte-Carlo Masters.

The 23 years old British player won the match in 79 minutes by 6-4 and 6-3 as he sent down 3 aces during the match.

Up next, Norrie will now face Marton Fucsovics in the 2nd round of the tournament after the Hungarian player defeated 12th seeded player Nikoloz Basilashvili in three thrilling sets.

As for the wild card and the Canadian youngster Felix Auger-Aliassime, he defeated the Argentinean player Juan Ignacio Londero by 7-5 and 7-6.

As for the world rank no. 1 Novak Djokovic, he got the revenge for his defeat at Indian Wells at hands of Philipp Kohlschreiber in their rematch. Serb was still made to work hard for this win as he won the match by 6-3, 4-6 and 6-4.

Djokovic said, “There were many ups and downs in this match and it certainly was not an easy one. He played really well but in the end, a win is a win. This was a tough match of the clay season. I needed to figure out as to how to move well. It was good for me that I spent too long on the court in this match.”

In other matches, Italian player Marco Cecchinato defeated Stan Wawrinka by 0-6, 7-5 and 6-3 to make it to the third round of the tournament for the first time in his career.

The 7th seeded Marin Cilic shockingly got defeated by Argentinean player Guido Pella by 6-3, 5-7 and 6-1.
