Monte-Carlo Masters; Rafael Nadal begins defeats Roberto Bautista Agut victory

Rafael Nadal started his campaign at his 12th Monte-Carlo Masters title with a great victory over his opponent Roberto Bautista Agut.

Rafael, the 2nd seed of the tournament started his quest at the tournament as he defeated his countryman the German player world rank no. 22 by 6-1 and 6-1 in 1 hour and 16 minutes.

Nadal previously had to pull out of the semi-finals of the Indian Wells after he suffered from a left knee injury.

In this match, he presented an amazing performance as he saved all 6 break points. He has now his last 16 matches in a row and will now play against Grigor Dimitrov for the third round of the Monte-Carlo Masters.

Nadal said, “This is only the first match and this has been a really great start and the results clearly show that. As for the feeling on the court, it was great too. This is my first match in the past 1 year on this clay court but a start like this obviously helps a lot.”

His upcoming challenger Dimitrov lost to him in the tournament’s semifinal which is going to be the opening tournament for the upcoming European Clay court season.

As for Grigor, he set up his match against Nadal after defeating German player Jan Lennard Struff by 7-6 and 6-4. With this, he has now won 14 of his 20 matches of his career at the Masters 1000 event for this season.

In other matches, Cameron Norrie defeated Marton Fucsovics by 7-6 and 6-3 in 96 minutes and set his match against the Italian player Lorenzo Sonego.

As for the wildcard the Canadian teenager Felix Auger, his opponent, the world rank no.3 Alexander Zverev proved to be a quite a hurdle as he got defeated by 6-1 and 6-4.

The last year’s French Open finalist Dominic Thiem also won over Martin Klizan by 6-1 and 6-4.
