NFL releases season schedule and New England Patriots are to host Pittsburgh Steelers in Week One

New England Patriots, the Super Bowl LIII champions are going to begin their defense of the title against their AFC rivals Pittsburgh Steelers in Week One after this year’s NFL season schedule was confirmed by the NFL.

Although the defending champions of the Super Bowl have the honor to host the season opener on Thursday night but NFL confirmed that the one of their oldest rivalries would have the privilege.

Green Bay Packers will start their trip to Chicago when the season starts for the 199th meeting between two franchises on September 5th which means that the champions’ Patriots will now switch to hosting their game against their arch-rivals Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

This is going to be a memorable season for the Patriots who are once again going to open with their star quarterback Tom Brady in his bid to win the 7th title without having Rob Gronkowski.

As for Steelers, under the leadership of Coach Bill Belichick, they have already lost some of their star players like Le’Veon Bell to the free agency and Antonio Brown to trade with Oakland Raiders.

As for the year’s first, Monday night football, it will feature a match between New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos in Oakland on September 9th.
