Novak Djokovic wins over David Goffin to reach semi-finals of Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic is bidding for his record 5th title of the Wimbledon and he seems to be on the right track as he claimed an emphatic win over David Goffin during their quarterfinals match.

With his 70th Wimbledon match win, Djokovic now moves into the semifinals of the tournament.

The world rank no. 1 only lost 1 set on his way to reach the last 4 of the tournament as he defeated Goffin by 6-4, 6-0 and 6-2 in 2 hours long match at Centre Court.

The world rank no. 1 will now face the 23rd seeded Roberto Batista Agut in the semifinals when they will play on Friday.  Bautista Agut reached the semis by defeating Spain’s Guido Pella by 7-5 6-4 3-6 6-3.

Djokovic said, “For the last two rounds, I have been playing my best tennis at the tournament. These two rounds have been the 4th round and the quarterfinals match. Especially today’s match against Goffin for the 2nd and 3rd set which was against Goffin who was in his best form. I am very pleased with my performance. This match could have gone a very different way for me. I was a breakdown and h was the better player for the most part of the 1st set. Still, I manage dot turn things around.”

As for Roberto Bautista Agut, he is the only player of the last 4 who has reached the semis by not dropping one set. He reached his maiden Grand Slam semifinals after having a perfect record against Pella in their 3rd career meeting.

As for his matches against Djokovic, Bautista has won the last two meetings which were for matches at the Miami Open and Qatar Open.
