Oxlade-Chamberlain scores 2 goals as Liverpool wins over Genk by 4-1

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Liverpool made a great start for Liverpool in the Wednesday’s game of Champions League as they defeated Genk by 4-1. This win ends the 4-game losing streak for the Reds’ in their group stage of the league.

The players of Jürgen Klopp lost all of the 3 games in the group stage of last season and also they were beaten at the Napoli for starting their fresh campaign.

Now with 6 points in their last 3 matches, Liverpool now maintains second place in Group E and is only 1 point behind the first-place Napoli. Napoli earlier defeated Salzburg by 3-2.

Klopp said, “There were some really good moments. The start of the game was really brilliant as the players kept it fluent and had a flexible formation. But I cannot understand why our players lose patience and let of easy balls. All of the counter-attacks made by them were when our players lost easy ball. Still, all of the 4 goals were made brilliantly. Still, we could have scored more but now the job is done.”

Kloop, since the team was held at 1- draw against Manchester United in the Premier League, made some changes in the team. He included the now once more fit Mohamed Salah who made a return from his injury.

As for Oxlade-Chamberlain, who scored 2 goals in this game, this was his second time he scored 2 goals in a single game. The last one was back with Arsenal’s 2-0 win in the League Cup 3 years ago.

The 3rd goal was scored by Sadio Mane as he chipped the ball form over Genk’s goalkeeper Gaetan Coucke during the 77th minute of the game. Following 10 minutes after this came the third goal, made by Salah which was the final goal for Liverpool.

As for the only goal of Genk, it was scored by Stephen Odey with only 2 minutes left to the game.
