Roger Federer sets up much anticipated semifinals clash with Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon

Roger Federer completed his 100th win at the Wimbledon to set up the much anticipated and the blockbuster of a semifinals match against Rafael Nadal at this year’s Wimbledon.

Federer was able to overcome the nervy start of his quarterfinals match against Japanese player Kei Nishikori to win the match by 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 and 6-4.

As for Rafael Nadal, he was able to easily defeat his American opponent Sam Querrey by 7-5, 6-2 and 6-2.

Federer is on the right track to win his 45th title of a Grand Slam tournament as well as his 9th Wimbledon title. However, in order for him to achieve these goals, he has to beat Nadal first and then Novak Djokovic.

 

Federer with his age of 37 years and 340 days has now become the oldest paler in the history of Wimbledon to reach the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament, the last one was Jimmy Connors, who reached the semis of US Open in 1991 and he was also the first man to have 100 wins at Wimbledon matches and made it to the 13 Wimbledon semifinals.

Federer and Nadal have not played against each other since their amazing Wimbledon final match back in 2008 when Nadal came on top of Federer by winning 5 thrilling sets.
