The unified bout for the IBF and WBA super bantamweight belts held in Los Angeles on Friday night between Daniel Roman and TJ Doheny was won by Roman on points.

Doheny was floored twice during the fight as Roman went on to win by majority points.

The American fighter dropped his Irish opponent in the 2nd and the 11th round. However, the Irish fighter still had a spell of success in this fight with his exciting encounter that earned him the draw at 133-133 by one judge as the other two judges scored 116-110 in favor of Roman.

In the opening round of the fight, Doheny sized up his opponent with accurate straight left punches using his southpaw stance.

However, Roman exploded in the 2nd round as he floored Doheny with a vicious left hook. Doheny was sent slipping on to the canvas near the ropes.

Doheny recovered and while getting beaten by Roman, still managed to land his powerful pouches in the 3rd and landed a big right in the 4th.

A huge swelling could be seen on Doheny’s right eye in the 5th round from brutal beating by Roman. Still, he went on to reply back to Roman in the 6th with his own left-hand pouches.

Doheny went on to make a determinant assault in the 7th who was troubled by his opponent’s left hands and in an effort to break him, he bundled his opponent to the canvas until referee ruled it out as a knockdown.

Doheny regained his confidence with an uppercut in the 8th but Roman replied back with his won uppercut in the 9th to make the legs of his opponent shaky.

In closing rounds of the fight, Roman was trying to gain the attention of judges with his aggressive approach as he went on to floor Doheny in the 11th round with a body shot.

Still, Doheny managed to stand firm until the 12th round ended thus concluding the fight in Roman’s favor.
