Ronaldo leads as Portugal beats Lithuania by 5-1

In the Tuesday night game of football for the qualifiers of the 2020 European Championship between Portugal and Lithuania, Cristiano Ronaldo took the lead of Portugal with his 4 goals as they defeated their opponents by 5-1.

Ronaldo scored first goal in the first half early on and then added in 3 goals during the 2nd half as they hosts even the game before halftime with their one goal. Last goal of the Portugal was scored William Carvalho.




Ronaldo said, “I am going through a great phase but team has also been doing really great. I am not only enjoying this moment because of my goals because also of the fact that the team has been giving heir big performance in these recent years. I just need to keep on helping my team.”

This si 2nd wins in a row for Portugal after the opened the Group B with their 2 draws in a row at home. They were standing at 2nd place with their 8 points which is only 5 points short of the Group leader, Ukraine. As for the 3rd ranking team Serbia in the Group B, they won their match against Luxemburg by 3-1 to have 7 points.

Earlier in the match between Serbia and Portugal, Portugal came on top with 4-2 victory.

Ronaldo said, “We achieved the hardest thing which was to win against Serbia. It was important for us to keep our momentum here. We are getting close to achieving our goal.”

Ronaldo now has 93 goals in his 163 match appearances with Portugal.

The only game that equalized the game from hosts during this game was made by Vytautas Andriuskevicius with his header during the 28yth minute.

As for the final goal of Portugal, it was scored by Carvahlo during the final minutes of the game. This was first game of the qualifying rounds in which Lithuania hosted Portugal.
