Ronaldo soaring header leads Juventus 2-1win over Sampdoria in Serie A

The scoring streak for Cristiano Ronaldo continued once more on Wednesday night game of Serie A between Juventus and Sampdoria as he scored a soaring header goal to lead the team’s 2-1 win. With this win, the defending champions of Serie A are not once more at the top of the tournament’s standings.

Gianluigi Buffon, the goalkeeper of Juventus matched the all-time record for the 647 appearances in Serie A matches set previously by Paolo Maldini in this game.  As for Ronaldo, he found a way to steal the spotlight of a game.

The star of Portugal leaped atop a defender and then stood in the air for a second to meet up with a cross to score a header and into the top of the goal net to score the winning goal for the team. The opening attempt from Paulo Dybala was stopped by Samp’s goalkeeper Gianluca Caprari.

Ronaldo said of the goal, “That goal was really nice but I am really happy to have helped my team to get these 3 points. The important thing for me here is to help Juventus win the titles.”

Claudio Ranieri, coach for Sampdoria said that all he could do was applaud. He said, “When somebody scores a goal like this, then the only thing you can do is to watch and admire it.  Ronaldo scored that goal in the style of an NBA player. He was in the air for an hour and a half like that.”

Back in November, Ronaldo had not scored a single goal but now in the last 5 matches, he has scored 6 of them. He says, “I had a problem with my knee that affected my performance for the whole month but now I feel very good.”

In other matches of Serie A, Sassuolo moved with 6 points clear of the relegation zone following their 2-0 win over struggling Brescia.

With this loss, Brescia still remains in the relegation zone with 2 points beneath Sampdoria for the last spot. Still, Brescia has played fewer games as compared to Sampdoria.
