San Francisco 49ers 48-46 New Orleans Saints: Robbie Gould’s late field goal leads 49ers late win

The thrilling close game of NFL between the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers ended in a 48-46 win for the 49ers.  Robbie Gould scored a late field goal that allowed for the San Francisco 49ers to win the game late in the 4th quarter.

Jimmy Garoppolo, the QB for the San Francisco 49ers threw 35 passes and completed 26 of them with 349 yards along with 4 TDs. This win marked to be the 11th win of this NFL season for the San Francisco 49ers and a step closer for them to the playoff berth.




The opposing team’s QB Drew Brees threw 40 passes with the competition of 29 for 349 yards with 5 TDs. He also ran on a TD pass to competition as the Saints lost their 3rd game of the year.

From the get-go, Saints exploded their game plan as Brees making the 9-yard play on the opening drive to finish it with a 38-yard TD pass to Jared Cook who then brushed aside a weak tackle to reach the end zone.

It was during the buildup of the game that San Francisco 49ers displayed their no. 1 defense of the NFL but Garoppolo still got sacked for the 9-yard loss.

San Francisco 49ers were able to gain the lead near the halftime for the first time in the game with Mostert making a 10-yard rushing TD and then Gould scoring a field goal. The score by halftime was 28-27.

Saints gained the advantage in the next two quarters but 49ers made a rally midway into the 4th quarter to take the lead back. Saints were able to close the gap with mask holding penalty given over 49ers Richard Sherman after Brees got sacked 3rd time in the game.

Michael Thomas made a catch on the 49-yard pass from Drew Brees and then scored the 21-yard TD to make the score in favor of Saints to be 42-40.

Garoppolo made a pass to George Kittle who then surged to the end zone with three defenders of Saints behind him to make a 39-yard TD.  Then the face mask penalty allowed for 49ers to reach closer to win as Gould kicked a field goal for 30 yards.
