Senior LPGA Championship; Laura Davies wins the Championship to claim her 87th tournament

55 years old Laura Davies, the Hall of Famer shot her final round of 70 which secured her victory with that the 87th tournament of her splendid career.

She took the start of her third and final rounds with two shot advantage and until the final day she doubled that advantage. She finished on eight under par at the French Lick Resort.




Davies after the game said to media, “this is fantastic. Winning the US Women Open for Senior was a real thriller. Consider my amazement because this was the course I did not believe I could play on. So in the end for me, this is a real victory. This is really nice.”

Davies also won the US Senior Women Open back in July at the Chicago Golf Club. She led all the way to the Pete Dye Course. The second place of the tournament was shared by Helen Alfredsson of Sweden and Italian player Silvia Cavalleri.

Michele Redman ended up at fourth place while Brandie Burton finished at fifth place.

However, the future Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew ended up in seventh place after a final round 76.
