South Korea chooses capital Seoul for 2032 Summer Olympics bid

South Korea for the bid of the 2032 Summer Olympics has selected its capital city Seoul. South Korea hopes to jointly host the Olympics with his rival North Korea as a peace gesture between two nations.

After a meeting on Monday, the news was announced by South Korea’s Olympic committee.

In the meeting, Seoul got 34 of the 49 total votes as the remaining went to the port city of Busan.

South Korea is planning to officially announce their decision to the International Olympic Committee for their intent to co-host the Olympics with North Korea on Friday when their meeting will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Although North Korea is yet to confirm their candidate city for the Olympics, the most obvious choice seems to be their capital city Pyongyang as it is more developed than any of the other North Korean cities.
