Spence Jr. VS Porter; Errol Spence Jr. adds the WBC belt to his IBF title with split decision win over Shawn Porter

In the World Welterweight title unification bout held between Errol Spencer JR. and Shawn Porter, Spencer Jr. was a class above his opponent as he gained the win by decision points.

Spencer Jr. did not have the easy victory as he was tested and pushed to his limits but was still able to secure the win with the split decision following him knocking out Porter during the 11th round of the fight held in Los Angeles.

With this win, Spencer Jr. who is still unbeaten adds the WBC belt of Porter to his already held IBF belt. The fight was a way of telling the audience as to how the body punching really works. From the get-go, Porter made it crystal clear that he came in to bulldoze his opponent in a reckless manner while Spencer JR., came with an intent to clip his opponent down. Porter suffered the power of some heavy punches during few opening rounds bit then his style of pressuring his opponent started to show effect.

The 3rd round was a wild shoot out between the two as the world champions remained unhurt and the battle turned into a battle of the wills.

4th saw Spencer JR. taking cover while moving backward as Porter’s pressure started to get to him. Middle rounds were all in the bag for Porter as Spencer JR. defended.

It was in the 8th round when Spencer Jr. showed what made him the world champion as he landed a brutal left hand that caused Porter to stand still.

9th round was the most exhilarating round of the fight where both world champions showed their brilliance to the audience as both caught each other and recovered from the damage.

The fight was in the balance when Spencer Jr. was able to floor Porter with a left hook and Porter suck to the canvas with his glove touching the floor but was still able to continue the fight.

After that Spencer JR. was on top as the fight ended. Still, Spencer Jr. was nervous until he judges gave the verdict of 116-111 in favor of Spencer Jr. on 2 cards with third one giving 115-112 verdict in favor of Porter.
