Tottenham lost by 7-2 against Bayern while Real Madrid has a draw

Tottenham, who was the finalist for the Champions League for the first time only 4 months ago, is now making history once more in Europe as the top club in this season’s competition.

However, history is in reverse.

In a Champions League game of Tottenham Vs Bayern Munich, Tottenham lost to Bayern in a humiliating manner by 7-2. This is the first time that an English team has given the chance of 7 goals to the opposing team in a match played at home in the last 137 years history.

Another team is also in trouble and it is Real Madrid as they have failed to win at least one of their first 2 games for the group stage for the very first time in the history of Champions League. Still, in a game against Club Brugge, Madrid had to make a comeback from trailing at 0-2 to make the match draw at 2-2.

As for Tottenham, they got defeated by the biggest margin from any English team playing at any other European competition.

To add insult on this loss was seeing Serge Gnabry who was a former player of  Tottenham’s rival team Arsenal as he scored 4 goals for Bayern to give them a dominating win. All of the goals by Gnabry were made during the 2nd half for the Group B match.

Mauricio Pochettino, manager of Tottenham said, “Every single one of his touch went in.

While this win was indeed a statement from Bayern, they are still not regarded as the favorites of the CL. On the other hand, Tottenham seems to be in a slump as they had already let the first game against Olympiakos to end in a draw along with getting elevated from the English Premier League by a club which is the only 4th tiered.

Pochettino said, “We are at the moment, really upset and disappointed, but we need to stay together.”
