UFC 235: Kamaru Usman defeats Tyron Woodley to grab the welterweight title

The Saturday night’s UFC 235 welterweight bout was the co-main event that took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The event was a pay-per-view one with streaming on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass.

As per the UFC, Usman becomes the first African born champion of the promotion.

Usman who has a career record of 15-1 MMA and 10-0 UFC, crawled into the center of the octagon while keeping his guard high against Woodley who has a career record of 19-4-1 MMA and 9-3-1 UFC.

Woodley tried to have a guillotine chokehold falling on his back while grabbing Usman. However, Usman was comfortable enough to land a punch and an elbow to the body of Woodley, who eventually had to let go of Usman.

For the rest of the fight, Woodley was on the defensive end against Usman while landing only one nice left hand in the closing seconds of the fight.

Usman held Woodley to the ground until the clock struck the siren to end the fight.  Usman went home with a clear cut win with scores; 50-44, 50-44 and 50-45.
